The TOBC Racing team is deeply saddened to announce the death of our bold and inspirational leader, Jon Couch. He was killed in a tragic flying accident on Friday, September 19th at the Virginia International Raceway alongside his loving and supportive mother, Frances Gene Couch. Jon was the humble founder, owner, and primary funder of the TOBC Racing team; even more, he was an avid racer, supporter of the sport, and the beloved patriarch of the TOBC Racing family.
Jon had an insatiable passion for motorcycle racing and used his resources and expertise to reinvigorate the sport. He founded TOBC Racing to materialize his love for speed and competition, but also to attract attention to the track through sponsorship, support, and the recruitment of both young, fresh talent and seasoned veteran riders. Some of his greatest memories were made alongside the TOBC family at the track, sharing in group dinners and toasting the day’s events, whether the team made podium or fell short. His encouraging presence was always cherished and will be sorely missed by TOBC and the entire racing community.
Jon’s daring enthusiasm for life was an inspiration to each of us; his charisma and belief in achieving the impossible pushed us to limits beyond our expectations. We are eternally grateful to have known and befriended such a unique and incredible man. His fearless spirit will forever live on in each of the many lives that he touched, and we will dare to live courageously both on and off the track in his legacy.
